Islandic Moss pampers horse’s stomach and helps to maintain the normal well-being of the mucous membranes. It is also rich in minerals.

Islandic moss is suitable for horses e.g. to support the normal well-being of the mucus membranes in respiratory tracts and stomach and intestines due to its high pectin content and mucus properties. Islandic moss forms a protective and soothing film on the mucous membranes.

Islandic moss includes e.g. Vitamins A and B, cellulose as well as minerals, tannins, pectin, sugars, proteins and starch. It is also rich in vitamin D precursor ergosterol. Moss is also a good addition for convalescent and debilitated horses. Even a few tablespoons of islandic moss gives the horse a good mineral and trace element supplementation.

  •     Vitamin A e.g. promotes the maintenance of normal vision, the maintenance of normal mucous membranes and skin, and the normal functioning of the immune system.
  •     The group of B vitamins includes eight different B vitamins. B vitamins are water-soluble vitamins that (with the exception of vitamin B12) do not form large stores in the body, but should be obtained continuously from the diet. Each B-vitamin has its own function, but they e.g. help fight fatigue and exhaustion, maintain normal energy metabolism, immune system function, nervous system function, and help keep mucous membranes and skin normal.
  •     The main function of vitamin D is to increase the intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphorus and its key effect is to strengthen bones. The absorption of iron, zinc and magnesium is also enhanced.

Islandic moss is well tolerated but rarely it may cause some symptoms such as diarrhea or urticaria. It is advisable to start with a small dose, gradually increasing.
