Heather is suitable for horses who are fast & furious and maintaining the normal metabolism.

Flavone glycosides maintain urine output, which in turn supports urinary tract flushing and functionality. Arbutin turns into hydroquinone in alkaline urine, which has a favorable effect on the well-being of the urinary tract. Due to the increased effect to urinate, adequate water intake is important.

Heather also works well in the treatment of an occasional loose stomach, as its tannins contract mucous membranes.
Heather flowers contain tannins, ericoline, flavonoids, flavone glycosides, arbutin, fumaric and citric acid.

Tanning agents have an astringent effect. Thanks to that, tanning agents support the healing of small skin lesions and the growth of new tissue. Internally, they can be used e.g. in the treatment of diarrhea.
Flavonoids are compounds found in plants that affect the taste, color, texture and shelf life of food and act as antioxidants. In biological systems, antioxidants balance the harmful reactions caused by oxidative stress and are therefore necessary for the body to stay in good condition. Dietary antioxidants are abundantly obtained from the products of the plant kingdom.
Nature's organic acids protect berries and other plants from damage caused by harmful microbes. This property is also utilized in the additive use of organic acids. Benzoic acid (E210), sorbic acid (E200), citric acid (E330) and their salts and malic acid (E296) may be added to berry and fruit juices for preservation purposes. Benzoic acid and sorbic acid are effective preservatives against yeasts and molds in acidic foods. Heather contains many of these acids.

Heather is not suitable for pregnant mares.
