Joint Buddy was one of Chia de Gracia’s very first herbal blends. Even after all these years, it remains one of our Best Sellers – and for good reason.
Let’s take a closer look at what it contains, the ingredients behind it, and why these particular ingredients were chosen for the formula.
Joints & nutrition
When it comes to a dog’s joints, there is rarely one single ingredient that does everything.
It is more about the overall picture – how nutrition supports the normal structure of cartilage, connective tissue and an active body in everyday life.
Chia de Gracia Joint Buddy was created from exactly this perspective:
not as a product based on one single “active ingredient”, but as a combination of several different nutritional elements.
So why these ingredients?
1. Chia – fatty acids + structure + a basis for absorption
Chia forms the base of the entire blend.
It provides:
- omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids
- fibre
- a natural “carrier” for other compounds
Fatty acids are part of the normal structure of cell membranes and tissues. They also have a very practical role: they support the utilisation of fat-soluble compounds, such as the resin compounds found in Boswellia.
So chia is not simply included as an extra ingredient – it helps bring the whole formula together.
2. Rosehip + MSM – supporting the same structural whole from two directions
This combination is all about structure.
MSM:
- a source of organic sulphur
- sulphur is a component of cartilage, tendons and connective tissue
Rosehip:
- contains vitamin C
- supports normal collagen formation
- contains naturally occurring plant compounds, including galactolipids
Together, they form an interesting pair:
sulphur + vitamin C = two nutritional components linked to the same structural whole.
This is one of the key ideas behind the entire formula.
3. Boswellia + chia – a traditional plant combined with practical absorption
Boswellia is included very intentionally.
- traditionally used as part of herbal feeding
- naturally contains resin compounds called boswellic acids
- these compounds are fat-soluble
And this brings us back to chia.
Fat-soluble compounds are better utilised when fat is present in the diet, and chia naturally contributes fat to the formula.

4. Devil’s claw + meadowsweet – the traditional herbal perspective
These herbs are included to complement the overall formula.
