Why chia for horses?

Chia seeds are a 100% natural, daily stomach-soothing nutritional supplement and well-being supporter for horses. Chia is rich in omega fatty acids, protein and high-quality fibre.

  • Chia is low in sugar and starch, but rich in omega fatty acids, fibre and protein. Omega fatty acids are particularly important for the well-being of skin, coat, mane and joints – and chia has one of the highest fatty acid contents in the plant kingdom!
  • Chia has an exceptionally high-quality protein composition and contains all the essential amino acids for horses, including lysine, which is often deficient in Finnish diets.
  • Chia is high in fibre (over 30%), so it supports digestion and normal gut function. The gel formed by chia is an absolute friend to the stomach and helps ease digestive discomfort!
  • Highly digestible fibres support the correction of chronic small intestine dysfunction.
  • Chia can also be used to help remove sand from the horse's gut.
  • Thanks to its gel-forming properties and high fibre content, chia gel works like a sports gel, slowly releasing fluid and nutrients for the body to use.
  • Chia supports the body's normal metabolism. In some horses/dogs, chia may initially cause increased urination due to the elimination of waste products. A well-functioning metabolism benefits animals suffering from sluggish metabolism and obesity, among other things.
  • Chia also contains minerals such as magnesium. Magnesium has been found to alleviate stress and tension, so it may help stress-sensitive horses & dogs and those lacking concentration. Magnesium is also important for muscles and the nervous system.
  • Chia also contains many vitamins, such as vitamin B3. Vitamin B3 is involved in the production of sex hormones and stress hormones.

Chia is the absolute royalty of horse superfoods!

Also suitable for horses that cannot tolerate grains or high carbohydrate or starch levels in their diet.
