Chamomile – a gentle herb for your dog's diet

Chamomile is a versatile and gentle herb used in dog feeding when you want to bring soft, balanced, and herb-based variety to the diet. Chamomile is known for its mild taste and easily combinable nature, making it suitable for a wide range of feeding regimens.

Chamomile is not an energising or potent herb – it is used especially when you want the diet to be gentle and calm, without an extra kick or additional stimulation.

When is chamomile used in feeding?

Chamomile is particularly suitable for situations where:

  • the dog is sensitive by nature or reacts easily to changes in daily routine

  • you want to add an herb to the diet as part of a balanced overall regimen

  • appetite or eating rhythm varies

  • you want an herb that does not increase energy content

  • you want to soften the diet, for example during transitional periods

For many, chamomile is an "everyday herb" – a gentle and approachable part of a balanced diet.

Natural composition of chamomile

Chamomile naturally contains essential oil (typically around 0,2–1,5 %) as well as flavonoids naturally found in plants. The levels of these compounds vary naturally depending on the plant parts, growing location, and harvest.

The mild aroma and flavour of chamomile are formed by the plant's natural compounds, which occur together with the plant mass.

The evening tea image as part of the diet

Chamomile is a familiar plant to many from everyday use – in humans, it is often associated with evening moments and a warm cup of chamomile tea. The same image of gentleness and softness makes chamomile a natural choice for your dog's diet too, when you want a calm and easily combinable herb as part of the overall regimen.

No buzz in the paws – just a soft part of a well-considered diet.

Use and preparation

Chamomile can be given as-is, mixed into the regular feed. The herb can also be steeped in warm water before adding to the diet. Steeping softens the herb and makes it easier to mix into the food.

A decoction can also be made from chamomile, which is then added to the food after straining.
