NOTE! NEW RECIPE AND COMPOSITION
CdG ZINC contains chelated amino-acid-chelated zinc in a highly bioavailable form.
Zinc is a trace element that the horse needs daily from its diet. It is present in all body tissues and is involved in many of the body's normal metabolic processes, such as the formation of proteins and collagen as well as normal growth and development.
Zinc is also associated with the structure of the horse's hooves, skin, coat and mane/tail hair. Adequate zinc intake is an important part of a balanced diet and the horse's trace element intake.
Chelated form
CdG ZINC contains zinc in a chelated form (as glycine chelate), in which the zinc is bound to an amino acid.
The chelated form resembles the natural structure
This form resembles the form in which many trace elements also occur in natural feed. In the chelated form, the trace element is bound to an amino acid, which makes it different from traditional inorganic mineral compounds where the trace element occurs as a simple mineral salt.
Chelated trace elements are therefore often the preferred choice in equine mineral feeding when you want to add trace elements to the diet in a balanced and highly bioavailable form.
Zinc in horse feeding
The horse's hooves, skin, coat and mane/tail hair are composed of proteins and structural compounds, the formation of which also requires trace elements. Zinc is part of these nutritional needs.
Adequate zinc intake is therefore an important part of a balanced diet, especially in situations where attention is to be paid to hooves, the coat and the nutritional background of the skin.
Hay and grains often contain relatively little zinc, which is why zinc is usually supplemented through mineral feeds.
Growing horses, horses in training, and pregnant and lactating mares often have a higher zinc requirement than horses at rest.
The approximate daily total dietary zinc requirement for a horse is, for example:
At rest / light work: approx. 500 mg
Training / hard work: approx. 600 mg
Foal (7–12 months): approx. 300 mg
Carrot powder
The carrot powder used in the product naturally contains beta-carotene (a precursor to vitamin A), which is part of the normal nutritional balance of the skin and mucous membranes.
Dosage
Adult horses (approx. 500 kg)
1–1½ scoops per day mixed into the feed.
Daily dose contains approximately
360–540 mg zinc
Foals (7–12 months)
½–1 scoop per day.
Daily dose contains approximately
180–360 mg zinc
1 scoop (40 ml) ≈ 30 g
1 scoop contains approximately 360 mg zinc
The amount of zinc obtained from other sources in the diet should be taken into account when dosing.
Composition
Inulin, carrot powder, chelated zinc chelate (3b607) and a pinch of love 🧡
Additives / kg
Nutritional additives
Zinc (3b607) 12 000 mg
Average nutritional values
Crude protein 3,2 %, Crude fat 0,2 %, Crude fibre approx. 6 %, Ash 3,3 %
A note on dietary balance
Zinc, copper, iron and selenium are among the key trace elements for horses. The copper-to-zinc ratio should also be considered in the diet; the recommended level is approximately 1 : 4.
