100% natural Vitamin E for horses & dogs.
Vitamin E supports, among other things, muscle and nervous system function as well as maintaining immunity.

CdGE is a completely natural form of Vitamin E. Vitamin E is one of the fat-soluble vitamins essential for the body.

In horses and dogs, Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant, protecting cells from the harmful effects of free radicals (such as lactic acid produced during physical exertion). Vitamin E is required for the normal function of muscles and the nervous system and for supporting the immune defense. Natural Vitamin E also supports the normal condition of skin and joints, and according to research it is absorbed more than twice as effectively as synthetic vitamin forms.

Vitamin E supplementation can also support energy metabolism and muscle function in connection with rhabdomyolysis. Exercise-related rhabdomyolysis is the most common form of tying-up syndrome in sport horses.

Horses obtain Vitamin E from fresh pasture grass and feeds containing Vitamin E. However, during winter housing, the stability of Vitamin E in dry hay is poor, which is why daily supplementation is recommended. Every horse needs Vitamin E unless it receives fresh grass daily.

Increased need for Vitamin E occurs especially in the following situations:

  • Heavy work and competition increase the body’s requirement for Vitamin E. Intense physical work strains muscles, tendons and joints, causing an imbalance between oxidants and antioxidants in cells. This imbalance damages cells, so the need for Vitamin E rises with increased exertion (sport horses and dogs). Vitamin E can support preparation for performance and recovery afterward.

  • Diets high in fat increase Vitamin E requirements.

  • Broodmares, pregnant and lactating animals have an increased demand for Vitamin E.

  • Supplementation is recommended also for aging horses & dogs to support immunity.

  • Vitamin E is important for animals suffering from Cushing’s disease.

  • Skin irritations, wounds and scars may benefit from Vitamin E. It also helps dry, flaky skin and protects against damage. Scientific evidence (1) shows that Vitamin E improved the condition of patients with skin disorders: lesions such as skin damage, redness, thickening, and hair loss decreased.

Supplemented Vitamin E is also beneficial in conditions associated with low-grade inflammation, such as skin problems caused by dryness, joint issues, and heavy physical exertion.

  • Horses on oil-rich diets during grazing season:

    • ½–1 g/day if receiving less than 3 dl oil (250–500 IU)

    • 1–1.5 g/day if receiving more than 3 dl oil (approx. 500–750 IU)
