Raspberry Leaf for horses and dogs

(Rubus idaeus)

Raspberry leaf is a traditionally used gentle herb utilised in the feeding of horses and dogs, particularly in connection with life-cycle and seasonal changes. It is a mild, versatile and natural herb suitable as part of a balanced diet.

Raspberry leaf is often referred to as the herb of mares and female dogs, and it is known for its long history of use particularly in connection with seasonal changes. The use of the plant is based on its natural composition and traditional use in animal feeding.

Natural composition – from the plant's own properties

The nutritional profile of raspberry leaf is based on its plant structure and naturally occurring plant components.

Tannins (tannins 5–10 %) are naturally occurring compounds in the plant with an astringent nature. This is a typical characteristic of leafy plants and affects the plant's structure and feel as part of the diet.

Flavonoids and other polyphenols are the plant's own compounds that function as part of the plant's natural defence and help the plant cope with environmental stresses.

Organic acids are part of the plant's own metabolism.

Thanks to these compounds, raspberry leaf is a structurally balanced and versatile natural herb for feeding.

Vitamins and minerals – a natural part of raspberry leaf

Raspberry leaves naturally contain vitamins and minerals as part of the plant's own nutritional content.

The leaves contain vitamins C, A, E and K, which plants naturally contain. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, while vitamins A and E are fat-soluble vitamins. Vitamin K is a vitamin typical of plants and part of the nutritional profile of green leafy plants.

In addition, raspberry leaves contain minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium, which are part of a varied diet. Minerals are part of the body's normal nutrient intake and complement plant-based feeding.

Use in feeding

Raspberry leaf is suitable for use as part of the daily diet, particularly in connection with life-cycle and seasonal changes.

The plant is mild in nature, which is why it can be used flexibly as part of the diet.
